while adding a printer the below error is displayed. Also, cannot start the Print Spooler service from "Services".

"Operation could not be completed.The print spooler service is not running".

To resolve the said issue, follow the below procedure:

1) Insert "Windows XP CD" in the CD Drive.

2) Click on Start > Run > and type the below command:

EXPAND /r "TheCDDriveLetter"\i386\SPOOLSV.EX_ C:\Windows\System32

(for example: EXPAND /r d:\i386\SPOOLSV.EX_ C:\Windows\System32)

3) Then click on Start > Run and enter the below command:

SPOOLSV.EXE /install

Then open "Services.msc" and start the "Print Spooler" manually and restart the pc. You will then be able to add a printer.
