Turn off File Anti Virus for ALL Windows Servers - hanging

Postby jasonhing » Mon Aug 17, 2009 9:12 am

Due to the unsolved avpmapp.exe issue I'm now turning off the File Anti Virus for ALL my Windows 2000 and Windows 2003 Servesr. Over the weekend after the 12th AUgust update which was suppose to fix the avpmapp issue but it has not, causing 5 of my 7 servers to respond slowly. My email server hung 3 times today and was sending out duplicates of emails since avpmapp was using all the resources.

I've given up testing as I believe that should be the role of the Software Vendor and not the customer. This issue is not isolated to me and I should not need to be the guinea pig. I'm not asking MW to fix a problem for me, I'm asking you to fix a problem for all your affected customers.

I do not want anymore testing. I want a solution.

Do let us the whether the problem is still there after taking updates.
As we have integrated the same in online update.

So far it is ok. That is the least of my worry. My worry is now that I'm losing control of my 300 clients as the EMC is not working properly. You can find the issue in another topic.

Hi jason,

For the EMC problem at your end,do download the new eserv.exe from here

follow below steps.
1) Start->Run-> Type "killproc eserv.exe"
2) Rename the eserv.exe to eserv.exe.old in \Program Files\eScan\ directory.
3) Paste this file in \Program Files\eScan\ directory.
4) Start eScan server from Start->Programs->eScan for Windows menu.

If you face the reported problem in this EMC also,do let us know.

Just tested this. If I don't rename the Ddetail.dat file, it still has the same problem and the 'Next' Button is greyed out. Have to rename the Ddetail.dat file but that is just essentially deleting the policy and trying again. I will run this new exe and see if the problem reoccurs or not.
