EMC - Deploying Client Install

Hi,

I'm trying to deploy out the client installation to an XP Pro machine.
Escan ISS for SMB v10.0.968.374.
I'm getting the error message: "The user does not have access to the requested information."
I have tried the following suggestion I was able to find in the old KB:
1. made sure the hidden file share (admin$) is enabled
2. Limit local account user of blank pw to console logon only is DISABLED
3. Set Network Access: Sharing & Security Model for Local Accounts to "Classic - Local User autenticates as themselves"

Any other suggestions?

Warm Regards,

Did you try installing the agent at the client machine and check.

Link to the agent is :

http://mail3.mwti.net/mwinsagent.exe

Also check if File and Print Sharing is enabled on clients.

Thanks for the suggestions.
Yes the file and printer sharing are enabled.

I tried installing the mwinsagent but I'm still getting the same error when I check the status on that system.... any other ideas?

Thanks!
Joan

Are you able to ping that workstation?
also from the command prompt try the following command:

NET USE * \\PCName\Admin$ ( Hit Enter )
This will prompt you for a user name and password.

If this does not connect, then that means that Windows is not allowing you to access the computer.

Resolved

Hi All,

FYI... I found the issue.

I was logging in to that system as a user that was part of the Administrators group.. apparently this isn't enough to give access to the admin$. When I used Administrator login credentials I was able to deploy out the installation.

Thanks for your help.
