Hello Jason,
1.set the value of OptimizeMemory to 0 in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MicroWorld\eScan for Windows\MwMonitor.
You SHOULD find the default value of OptimizeMemory = 1 in that key.
2. set the value of BdThreadCount to 1 in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MicroWorld\eScan for Windows\MwMonitor.
You SHOULD find the default value of BdThreadCount = 7 in that key.
3. Restart the system
This resolved the secutity option problem on Vista at one of our customers system.
AND IN ADDITION
for your 99% avpmapp.exe problem:
try step 1. on the systems, reboot and check.
If it does not help apply step 2. too and reboot

Thank you Axel but Vista is not my main issue as only the IT team is using it. I have implemented both of the settings on my user who's machine hangs everyday and it is still hanging with the same issue.

On my 2 home based Escan ISS on Windows XP I was also having avpmapp.exe running at 99%
I did:
Reinstalled Escan ISS with vers 10.0.997.xyz
Ran Espatch1.exe 493 to make it vers 10.0.997.493
Downloaded actual AV updates (on 18 Aug 09)
which seemed to have solved the avpmapp.exe 99% problem
I did NOT do:
The first registry setting change, or
Limit File to 1024 change to 2048

Hello All,
New avpmapp.exe has be added to the updates that does all the required change by itself so as to sort out the CPU utlization problem....
Let eScan take normal updates...
OptimizeMemory = 1
BdThreadCount = 1
Hence no manual intervention is required to make the changes in the
Windows registry.
The version of avpmapp.exe will be 9.0.2.147

Hi Mathew,

I've restarted the server and monitoring it now. Confirmed that the latest update has changed the optmem to 0 and bdthreadcount to 1. Will monitor over the weekend.

So far so good. It's been 2 weekends and all the servers are still working. Users are not reporting any major issues either. The fixes are working so far.

I guess I spoke too soon again. The AVPMAPP.EXE issue came up again on my email server running on Windows 2003. It has the latest version of the update and running on the 493 patch. No settings were changed in the last 3 weeks. However, the server suddenly stopped responding as the avpmapp.exe was taking up all the cpu cycles. Even when I reboot the machine, the avpmapp.exe will go up to 99 percent immediately after reboot. This happened twice in a row and on the third time, I had to stop the filescan from running during startup, let the server start all the services before turning it back on. That seem to be the only way to start the server.

Hello Jason,
Can you tell me what version of avpmapp.exe is running on this version. The problem is no more occuring anywhere apart from this server you've mentioned.
You can hold the shift key and move the mouse cursor over the Red Shield Icon and you will be able to see the version of avpmapp.exe running.
